Pioneer R1 Tablet OS Update

Hi,
Does anyone know how to update the OS on the Pioneer R1 tablet? It's currently running 4.2.

I'd like to get it to 4.4 if possible.

This is a rebranded Gigabyte tablet.

Welcome to Android Central! You have to install this app: Pioneer Tablet Firmware Update. There's no guarantee a 4.4 update is available, though.

Thanks - I did see and tried that, but it tells me no update is available. Several of the apps I have been using are telling me I need to update the OS or I can't use them anymore. I guess I am just SOL here?

Yeah, unfortunately you probably are. The other option would be to root the device and install a custom ROM of the higher Android version, but I couldn't find a successful root procedure on the web, and someone would still have to design a custom ROM for it.
