Pixel 2 and Home mini phone calls

My home mini will make a call if I say, "Call dad," but it just dials it on my phone and doesn't send the audio through my home mini. Anyone know why or have the same problem?

I'm on my 4th P2. The first one did it, but this one doesn't.

Did you check the app and make sure it's still set up there?

I use it to listen to podcasts and the news, etc every day.
Does my phone need to be Bluetooth paired to it, or just on the same wifi? maybe that's the problem.

I didn't think the home mini had phone call functionality, only the bigger two home devices?

Right... but I was asking if you'd already checked the settings in the Home app to make sure it's connected..

Ok, I added in my phone number and then tried to make a call. It called through both my phone and speaker at the same time. It went to voicemail on one call and continued on the other. WTH.

Is that a Blue Tooth connection for that call ?

Its just wifi. The mini isn't connected through Bluetooth.

I just reset my home Mini and tried again and the same thing happened. It dialed on both devices.

Hmm.. weird. Do you have multiple accounts synched to the mini? There's gotta be some reason both devices are responding.

No. I have two email accounts in my Gmail but my Home app is only showing my main account and it's the same one as my phone. I spent over an hour on the phone with support and they're going to call me again tomorrow.
I miss my fist pixel 2. Everything worked correctly.

Soooo... Did you get a chance to have the second call with them? I'm curious where this ended up..

They called me back but I was so tired I didn't take the call. I couldn't deal with the thought of spending another hour of my life on this after work lol.
I'll call them back.
I think the problem is that both things are responding to "Ok Google"...but idk. If I ask it to play something on Spotify, it does it on my mini only. They wanted me to retrain my assistant on my phone to only respond to "Ok google" and have my mini respond to "Hey Google" which I thought I had already done.
