On the Samsung s8 plus when you watch a you tube video, there is an option to fill up the screen so that the black bars on the sides go away. Does anyone know if the Pixel XL 2 will do the same? I'm hoping it does or that Google has another solution that will adjust for the 2:1 ratio.

On preproduction it did not do that, I'm also hoping that the final one will do that. That is feedback that I gave very early on.

The podcast indicated it didn't....It's called "Full Screen" They indicated the non XL was " Cinema Screen" (If I remember the name right) and so the smaller one would do all of the screen.

Hmm. Not sure if I would want this. As long as it is just an option, and not default, I guess it's good to have.

How exactly does it fill the screen on the s8+ ? Does it stretch the video? I would hate that. Does it zoom the video (and therefor crop the short side) - I would hate that as well, but perhaps slightly less ..

It is an option. For example, if I pull up a youtube video, there is an icon that I can click on to fill up the screen. It basically scales the video and crops it a bit to fill up the panel. It does a good job of it for the most part.

This is exactly my thoughts. As long as it's an option that can be disabled. I want to be able to watch a video in it's correct dimensions.
