Pixel 2 XL OTG not working after Dev. Option changes

Hello all, I recently dug into my Developer Options menu to try and speed up my device by turning off all animations, and I may have inadvertently made another change that has caused a different problem. I have a small Go-Pro style camera that I used to be able to connect to my Pixel 2 XL thru the USB-C (OTG style) cable. Which I did as recently as a week ago .... same cable, same OTG adapter (the one that came with my Pixel), but now when I plug it in is just says it is charging the camera, no data transfer is available.

I did some reading, and turned on USB Debugging. Then I made sure the default USB Configuration is set to "File Transfer".

After that didn't work, I tried to clear the cache & data from the "External Storage" and "Media Storage", but I'm still not having any luck.

Tried a few other cables, even tried a different OTG adapter. Also I used to be able to plug my Pixel 2 XL in to my PixelBook (Chromebook?) and it would transfer data, but no such notification now when I plug the two together.

Any other advice I can try? I was thinking of maybe upgrading this phone since it's a year and a hlaf old, but if I can't transfer data, I can't retrieve anything off this phone, so I'm starting to get very nervous.

Thanks,
Chris

Turning off developer option should of put things back to default.
You can try resetting app preference in phone settings >apps >3 Dots upper right corner then app preference reset.

This might help as it sets the apps back to default if anything changes them or permission.

Thanks Mustang7757. I was really hoping that would work, as I haven't tried that yet, but alas it still won't let me transfer any data.

Anything else I can try?

No new system updates in the last week.

This is the same external Mobius camera that worked a week ago, same cable, same USB-C/OTG adapter, same everything, just doesn't want to recognize any external devices.

At first I thought it was a faulty cable, but I've tried 3 or 4 different cables. I've tried taking the case off, in case it wasn't making good connection. I've tried using canned air to blow out the Charging port (powered down of course).

I'm lost...

Try in safe mode, let's see what happens?

Nope same thing still.
Just a couple thoughts. You get a notification when you plug the camera, right? If so, swipe down from the status bar and make sure the right option (Transfer) is enabled. Also, if nothing works you could try clearing data for the settings app to get rid of any changes that could be causing this problem.

OK tried clearing the cache and data from the settings apps. Still no option for file transfer.

Also if I do a factory reset, wont I lose all my personal info stored on the phone? If so that kind of defeats the point of trying to recover all my personal stuff when I finally go get a new phone.

well in this case, itseems more like a Software issue, but, I was having the same problem, all of the sudden my OTG was not recognizing any device, I grabbed a needle and cleaned out the USB C port from Dust and used canned air, and Voila, it work again, might work for some other people, give it a try
