Pixel 2 XL with wired headphones questions

I have two questions:

1. When I am using wired headphones and ask google assistant to call someone, it keeps asking me to unlock my phone using the pattern. Is there any way to bypass this option? I'd like to give my Pixel this command handsfree!

2. When I owned my Samsung S6 and the ringer was OFF, I was still able to hear a call come in through when my wired earbuds were connected to the phone, meaning that I'd hear my phone ringer go off in my ears. With my Pixel, when I receive a call I do not hear the ringer if DO NOT DISTURB mode is on. I know what DO NOT DISTURB means but it was a nice feature I had with my Samsung, was wondering if thats possible with the Pixel.

Thanks!

For 1 - get into your Google Assistant settings (if you have the swipe for the assistant pane set up, do that then tap the overflow menu in the top right and select settings). Go to Voice and make sure you have "Say 'OK Google' anytime" enabled as well as the "Unlock with Voice Match" (you'll need to train the voice model if you didn't. Now, probably the step you needed - go back one level and select the "Hands-free" menu item, make sure wired headset is enabled.

Sorry, I can't help you much with the second item.

Using the stock settings the closest you can get is to allow selected callers through, but of course that's regardless of whether you have wired headphones connected or not.
There may be a 3rd party application that allows that but I haven't searched for or stumbled upon one.
