Hello everyone. Hoping to get some advise as my Pixel 2 XL won't connect to my PC or laptop.

USB Debugging - On
USB Configuration - I've tried MTP and PTP

I've tried the USB-C cable that came with the phone and I've tried other aftermarket cables.

I've tried hooking it up to the USB-C on the PC and tried using my USB hub.

I've also tried the same using my Laptop. Neither computer will do more than charge the phone.

When the phone is hooked up, under Connected Devices, USB option at the bottom always says 'Not Connected' and is always grayed out.

So far, the only way to transfer files between my desktop and Pixel is to use Bluetooth.

Any advise would be appreciated.

I'm having the same issue as of the last day or two. I can also no longer connect for Android Auto (VW MIB II & Pioneer NEX 3400). Tried Windows & Linux, USB-C to USB-C and USB-A to USB-C but no connection. Pixel 2 XL charges but no combination of USB Debugging, MTP, etc has worked yet. All of the above uses & connections worked in the last week.

Same here. Just stopped working yesterday after working fine with same cables/computers many times before. It was probably a few weeks since I last used USB to transfer files. Can't remember if there were any big system updates since. I did seem to be hit by some type of malware in few days prior. It displayed a gif of some bull character giving the "rock n' roll' or "Satan horns" hand gesture. It kept me from reaching the home screen. I restarted the phone and it seemed to go away. Not sure if there is a connection to this USB thing which I discovered the day after. I may try factory reset if I can't find another solution.

Tried USB file transfer today and it worked. Same hardware. Not sure what has changed. Not aware of any updates having been applied. Android Pie update is available but I haven't taken it yet.

I haven't seen any problem with my Pixel 2 XL, connected to the PC with a USB-C/USB-A cable from Google.
That goes for both Oreo and Pie.
