I swear I have been through a GAUNTLET of phones since my first smart phone in 2011. I've had a HTC Inspire 4G as my first one, HTC Droid Incredible 2/, HTC One M8, Galaxy S3, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S7, galaxy S8+, Galaxy Note 8, Galaxy S9 AND S9+. Galaxy S10 2x(lost both due to accidents and insurance would not cover a second claim. Bought a S20 out of pocket-- board went bad, will cost more than the phone is now worth to replace. Got the S9 for a bit but the battery went to crap. So while I currently cannot afford monthly installments on a brand new flagship, and with stuff even like the Galaxy S10/20, Pixel 4-5 still being a bit over my budget, I went to Back Market and found a Pixel 3XL in practically new(refurbed of course) condition. One thing that sold me was that even though this phone has received it's last update with Android 12(can unofficially be updated of course via rooting) the idea that Pixels have call screening was VERY appealing to me, and is probably the single most useful feature I've used. It's cut down on the spam calls practically 100% being able to screen them and identify potential spam while ringing.
So I'm pretty pleased with it. I got the white model mainly cuz I find black to be a little bland, as so many of my others were black. The white back with the black front is a nice contrast and the notch does NOT bother me in the least .
Anyway to the point: this is my home screen I'm rocking. Rendering of the final scene of Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series. I love and hate this wallpaper because it looks great on my screen, yet it is so sad to see Vader(can see him in the helmet visor) walking away as a visual metaphor of him leaving his past behind, as he had once been a general of a legion of clone troopers while he was Anakin. Watching that final scene, even though Vader had largely taken over, you could still see some Anakin in him as he stood there observing the scene and holding his former padawan's light saber. Long winded post, but I love(and hate) that scene and against the white of the back chassis felt that would make a good wallpaper, especially with the software autoadapting the icons to match the main color theme.
Couple weeks in, and honestly this does NOT feel like a 4 year old device. I think after Android 12 has ran it's course I will flash Android 13 on it.
