I did all that you suggested. The Stand now charges normally up to 80%,and then slows to 100%, but it is much better now. The problem may be a sign that the battery, that is more than 2 years old, may be the problem. Anyway, thanks for the tip.
I thought that the charging method was programmed into the phone (maybe charger, too) to somewhat quickly provide initial charge but then to slow down charging to keep the batteries a bit cooler perhaps and not to overtax the charging properties of the battery. But I could be wrong.
I closed out the thread you madeThis inadvertently was posted in a new post. It really belongs ln this thread
During my diagnosis of a suspicious Pixel Stand problem, I cleared the storage and cache. The Stand still charges the phone, but the charging screen is now (lock screen) very dim and the icon at the top of the screen that I could use to configure the Stand, is no longer visible. The lock screen, when not being charged, is of normal brightness.
How can I restore restore the brightness of the charging screen and a way to reconfigure the Stand ? Thanks.

- Open your phone’s Settings app.
- Tap Connected devices.
- If you don't see "Pixel Stand" under "Previously connected devices," tap See all.
- Next to "Pixel Stand," tap Settings
