Depends on the person and what they want..

Pixel 3: Unmolested Android OS experience. Fast updates and security patches
iPhone XS: iOS (if you dig it) fast updates from Apple and security patches
Galaxy S9: Samsung overlay, duplicated services galore, slow - very slow updates and security patches

I am a Pixel (Nexus) person but my son loves Samsung.. He has the S9+ and has had every Samsung since the Skyrocket. I'm a pure Android person and always get the Pixel (Nexus) phones...

Which is better? You'll never get an answer as each phone is better for those who want what the one they chose has to offer..

What's amazing to me is that call quality is one of the least features discussed. It hardly ever gets a mention. I'm not referring to signal strength alone mind you. Maybe it's because many use it more for texting, pictures, music and games. Maybe it's hard to measure or we just take it for granted.

It's hard to measure. I mean you can run into several things. Which phone vs. which service vs. carrying case vs. locale. Thousands of variations exist within those points.

Referring to call quality on an average basis on a decent signal on any given carrier. Comparisons can be made between phones by reviewers just like they compare anything else.

Just saying that is only a portion of the tale. There are so many variables that make up reception that I would be hard pressed to take any review comparing it with a grain of salt. What is the worst phone on ATT could be one of the better phones on Verizon or Tmobile. Signal tests are great for some like testing location penetration by a service or to figure out if you are holding it wrong but I question if nowadays you can really test for best phone for making phone calls.
