Pixel 4 worth it?

Those of you that have/had the Pixel 4, I'd like your opinion if you think the phone is worth it. I am considering the Pixel 4 (not xl) 64GB. Currently using the Pixel 2 XL and want the smaller version. I've had the p2xl since launch and only at 50% of the 64GB used so I don't see a need for bigger. I know the P4 has some bad reviews/complaints so I wanted to explain my thoughts and get your opinions. Thanks! (PS- 64GB Pixel 4 currently $500, not a bad price!)

Battery life: when I'm home, always near a charger. Always plugged in in the car. Don't currently charge my phone while at work, but would guess I've never gotten lower than ~40% on my current phone. Usually just don't have time to get the battery lower and not doing anything to taxing, just a few simple graphic games and web browsing. That being said, if I need to charge while a work, not a problem, always have the car available.

Motion Sense: not really interested, just planning to stick to the standard buttons like always.

Face Unlock: not interested, still using my "old school" pattern/pin/etc method

Photos: this is important. I don't do selfies, usually just pics of my son and other interesting stuff. Not a photographer, just making memories! Not sure why the lack of a wide angle lens would be a big deal...

Storage: again, never needed more than 64GB.

Unlimited uploads: that's bs google, sham on you.

Sorry, it's long, but thoughts? My Pixel 2 is still great 2 years later, but slowing down slightly and I'm getting the itch. If you don't/can't recommend the P4, what else? I'm not going to Apple or Samsung. Thanks!

I went from Pixel 2 XL to 3 XL. Didn't see much in P4 and wanted the unlimited full resolution storage. Pixel 3 xl has that until Feb 2022 (woooooottt).

If you are okay losing that then P4 is a nice upgrade. Not sure why you want to go to P4 vs XL. I think you will notice a considerable difference in battery life (worse) compared to your current 2 xl.

Good luck with your choice. For me 3 xl was a no brainier and it is a noticeable upgrade to the pixel 2 xl. Can't say the same going from pixel 3 xl to 4 xl, in my opinion, just nothing there to make it worth it. It's the same main camera sensor, same base storage and your lose unlimited storage.

I upgraded from p3 because there was a holiday promo and my phone was noticably slow at times. Also wanted to get out of phone while it was still worth something. If p3 had 6gb ram, I wouldn't have upgraded.

If you think 4 XL is crap then 3 XL is more crap. Everything on the 4 XL is so much better including the battery life compared to 3 XL and doesn't have the bath tub notch. I will give you the unlimited storage option taking away is bad but other than that everything is better in other departments (Performance/Display/Looks/every day use).
And 2 to 4 is much bigger upgrade over 2 to 3 any day and supported for a year longer if someone wants to keep the phone longer.

To the OP - it's a great phone and people will have extreme opinions including me about good or bad. All I can say is if you like the Pixel experience then Pixel 4 is a great option. It's a bummer losing the original quality unlimited uploads, but like every other phone you still get high quality unlimited uploads or Google one plans are cheap. If you want to save money I would suggest looking at 3a/3a XL series. If you are not particular about Pixel experience, then iPhone 11, OnePlus 7T series and Note 10/S10 series are great options and highly recommended. Obviously if budget is consideration look at 3a or previous generations of iPhone, Galaxy, Pixel or OnePlus depending on what you like.

Yes, 100%. However, go to a store and try out both 4's. It may not sound like a big difference but it will be noticable and you may not like it. The 4's are more narrow then the past pixels and the xl feels good in the hand and easy to use. Over all, it's am excellent phone no matter which one you get, fast, smooth and a big upgrade from the 2.

If you do upgrade, few suggestions.

Motion sense: I would agree in it's current state, is a gimmick. The only reason I keep it on is it's aware when I am reading and doesn't turn the screen off and it will wake up as I am moving to pick up the phone.

Gestures: give these a shot before using the on screen buttons. Using gestures to navigate the phone is smooth and more natural, much better way to navigate your phone.

Face unlock: again, give this a try before going straight to pin\pattern, it's really good. If you don't like skipping the lock screen and going straight to home, you can change that in the settings.

Definitely agree with what you say, plus the 4 series more ram , better design, can wireless charge fast not only pixel chargers but others and 90hz display ...best pixel so far

Yeah even though it’s only 6 vs 4 GB ram, it does make a big difference in everyday usage. And the 4 XL is so much more polished in everyday use than 3 XL. You can tell the difference in every department if you have used both. It’s unfortunate some people keep commenting without even using the phone and have made up opinions

Totally agree, upgraded my 3XL to 4XL. Used the 4XL for a little over a week then returned it (to go from white to orange), so I've been back on the 3XL for a few weeks. Going back down from the 4-3 was a noticeable difference. Really excited my orange 4XL gets here tomorrow as I miss the overall smoothness and lack of effort that the 4 has in doing every day tasks.

Nice !!! really love the orange color but i didn’t have the patience to wait for it so settled with white. Glad you are going to get the color of your choice

I went from pixel 3 to pixel 4. All the negative reviews had me nervous, but I shouldn't have been concerned. I couldn't be happier with the 4.

I got the regular Pixel 4 and love the size and form factor. With the exception of the iPhone 11 Pro Max I can kill any battery in under a day with the way I use my devices so I'm always around a charger so that's a non issue for me. Although the adaptive battery feature definitely does a great job. Definitely worth the upgrade from the 2.

The P4 definitely felt smaller in the hand than I was expecting..... I'm glad I checked them out in person, with the new aspect ratio I would have regretted getting the smaller 4. I will definitely be going XL only for any future purchases ;-)

I had an iPhone since they first came out and just switched two months ago to the Pixel 4 XL. I love it! It’s not perfect but I believe it’s best for me.

The main thing I like is how accurate the voice transcription is. I use it all the time for taking notes, for sending text messages, for composing emails, and for composing business documents. The face recognition works really well so now I don’t have to worry about my fingerprints not working on my iPhone whenever I work in the yard.

I am a big Google assistant user so it’s seamless integration makes things much easier for me. I’m also a windows 10 user so I like having messages on my computer as well as my Pixel 4 XL.

I can’t speak to the battery life as I am an office worker and usually keep my phone on the wireless charging stand which is very convenient. I have another charging stand in my car which is also very convenient so my phone is usually topped off all the time. If I’m going to have any unusually long trips away from my chargers I have a battery pack to bring along which I used to use with my iPhone as well for the same reason.

I like the way Google alerts me of various ways that I can take advantage of features to make things easier and how it is adding new features all the time. I’m glad I made the switch.

And that's why no one else's opinion should matter to anyone.
