Pixel 4a 5g can only charge when turned off

[Android Central Question]

I had a notification that the USB C port was wet or dirty. Used a hair dryer and was notified that the port was now usable. However it would not show the down arrow in the battery when I plugged in any working USB C charging cable.

If I turn the pixel off and plug in a cable I get the percent charge surrounded by a starburst and it will charge to 100 percent. But when I turn the phone back on, it will no longer accept a charge.

The 4a 5G has no waterproof rating and getting it wet is likely to kill the phone or parts of it.

Try what the others say and then perhaps you may need to take it to a repair shop to see if there is anything they can do.
