Have two pixel's 5 and 4a.

5 has more ram and 5g bands....next gen chipset

4a SOC handles it's hardware better.
5 has the SOC tripped out.
Don't know if its a memory stack thing or/and band search ...
SD765 5g is not a bad chipset. Samsung S20 FE 5G [SD865] suffers a bit of the same thing.
will take a bit of time for things to shake out.
Their all good phones. However, it is what it is.

I just got my 5 about 3 weeks ago... Upgraded from my 3 XL... I love it so far!

Hello eric, good luck with it.

Chipset synthetics are about the same. ram is double.
Suspect 5G drivers need more work. That's a software thing.
3 XL is a nice phone.
ram limits it. 4G ram is a little sparse nowadays.
One usually notices a battery drain with increased ram, more than expected.
Never noticed it with my 5. pics gobble ram and it takes time for 5 to do it's magic.
didn't seem to have a great effect on battery usage though.

Sure is :)
Battery life good on yours?
Yeah,in a full charge, I'm getting about a day in 20 hours. How does that sound to you? Although, my screen on time is very low but I don't use my phone very very much during the day. I'm mostly on my laptop.

How do you charge your battery dude because cycle time did you usually go into low battery mode, or do you need to charge your phone your battery? Or do you charge it when your battery is halfway done?

Didn't want to make a threat to just ask this question but I just got a 4A and noticing the vibration motor isn't as strong as I expected. If I recall correctly you used to be able to control this through Accesibility menu but I don't see this option. Has this feature been removed from both the 4A and 5A? Odd that they would remove this yet the Gboard app lets you control the vibration strength.

I opted for the 4A despite smaller battery than the 5 merely for the better speaker quality and headphone jack. I personally didn't feel that the current price of the 5 is justified for the jump from the A line even with the 90hz and water resistance. I don't care much for either nor the wide angle camera.

I keep finding myself preferring the A line over the flagship models since they were introduced. I love having a Pixel in my pocket. The android experience is the best and being able to just WHIP it out of my pocket and take a great picture is also a benefit. Bought a iPhone XR a couple months ago and while I love the premium feel of it I just find myself gravitating back to a Pixel. My wife also told me to stop going through so many phones and decide what I like already so I'll probably be selling the iPhone! No dual phone wielding in this household! haha :'(

4a is my driver.
Have many other phones but limited to DS enabled for personal reasons.
Using eSim and Red Pocket sim. Thinking 4a handles it better for whatever reason.
Like my Sony 5 ll and OnePlus 7T 1907 which handle dual sims. Not as well as 4a imo.
Have pixel 5 also....using the 4a

I chose the 4a 5g over the 5 for very simple reasons.

Fingerprint sensor
Headphone jack

I never considered the 4a because of the lack of 5G. I know there isn't much of a difference between AT&T 5G and 4G. I wanted to see for myself. So far I haven't seen much improvement. I live in the Greater Sacramento, California region.

It's been a long time since I posted on these forums.

my battery stats:
full charge lasts about 12hr 30mins
screen usage since last charge 1hr 34 mins

does that sound like a dying battery? It's a pixel 1

Hows the battery on this?

I'm still on pixel 1..going strong but not sure if my battery is starting to keel over. Screenshot_20210414-074542.jpg

For example: Full charge lasts 12hr 15mins, screen time used 49mins....its down to 35%, lost about 15% overnight

It doesn't look good. 47 min SOT and battery is down to 35%. You can download Accubattery (my favorite) or a similar battery measurement app to get more detailed battery stats. Accubattery shows your battery health as a percentage of the measured charge compared to the stated battery capacity. Pretty straightforward info on how your battery is performing.
