I got my Pixel 5a today. I put my at&t sim into it. Got it all set up. Why does it show 5Ge in the status bar instead of just 5g? I know that at&t put "5Ge" (5g evolution) on some of their phones. My s10e shows 5Ge. Took THAT sim out and put into my S21ultra. It shows 5g. Put same sim into pixel 5a and it shows 5Ge. And I checked pixels settings. There is NO option to switch to LTE. ALSO...the new pixel has the June 5, 2021 security patch. It says "your software is up to date". WTF.

What part of the US are you in? For AT&T, the Pixel 5a only supports band 5 850 MHz (low band) for 5G, not the mm wave band 260 39 GHz. The S21 Ultra does support band 260. So if band 5 is not prominent in your area, but band 260 is, then that might be why you're seeing that.

Here's a recent list of cities that have mm wave support: https://about.att.com/newsroom/2021/5g_plus.html

Go into the Settings menu, find and open Cellular networks, and check the APN menu in your phones. Odds are the selected APN entry in your Pixel 5a is named 5Ge, the selected APN entry in your S10e is also named 5Ge, and the selected APN entry in your S21 Ultra is named 5G.
The APN name itself is just an identifier, the important part is all the content (the settings used by your carrier). You can change the APN names so they're all the same if it bothers you (just leave the settings and options as is).
