This is happening on my 8 Pro ... But only seems to happen at 1x. I'm on camera version 9.2.113.600672654.18

If I'm framing a picture on my 8 pro where part of the scene is bright and part is in shadows, tapping the light or dark portions doesn't change the exposure in the viewfinder much (if at all). So that may be a bug but it's not that important to me because when you actually take the picture, the camera is functioning correctly...the final picture where I tapped the dark part will have a brighter exposure than the picture taken where I tapped the bright part, just as I would expect.
I'm on version 9.2.113.585804376.14

I have this issue too but never noticed until I read this thread.

Mine has it too, and only at 1x. It's been frustrating. Hopefully a fix comes out.

I have tested this on mine and it works ok
