The fact that that article highlights only one aspect of a phone as if it were solely responsible for performance and cries foul is enough to make everything else it says suspect. Pixel 8 Pro has 50% more RAM, which could easily account for difference, and I'm sure there are other items as well, if the benchmarks reported are to be believed.

And on that note, benchmarks mostly only matter for comparing to other benchmarks, not for real-world use.

Lastly.... testing a product not known to be a production unit running release software can easily render any data irrelevant.

Didn't they say the same thing about the Pixel 7 line before release? I wouldn't worry too much about this, especially until we have some IRL reviews to check out!

What are we calling "issues?" Does the phone get hotter when it is use? Yes. My PC does the same. My car does the same. My tablet does the same.

Does it get hot enough to cause an issue? No. That's over blown.

My 7pro would get overheat message then after few minutes turn off and this while on video call with family the call be 10 minutes into it .

I'll wait and make up my mind when I get the device. I have lost a lot of faith with tech reviews. Too many incentives to get clicks by highlighting issues that might be on a single device that has absolutely nothing to do with how I use the phone.

I've used my p7p extensively for Google Meet calls, often to an hour or more, and never had any issue. The only times I've ever had an overheating issue have been either during extended gaming sessions or when running GPS with the sun beating down on it on a hot summer day - it's definitely not something that is universal.

I have wondered in there past if a lot of such issues might be brought on in part by people using cases that are overly insulative (I use a Bellroy with no issues).

I know the case is not a issue because I get the slimiest available, it's possible maybe something 3rd party though I never tried to chase it down this didn't happen in the beginning only after few updates and seems my pixel Fold gets little warm but no overheating indication.

This was my experience as well.

Yeah, it’s strange to have a review about an issue before the phone is released. All the leaks and information has taken a little fun out of new model launches.

They did, and it proved to be true. A lot of people had overheating issues with the pixel 7
Yes, you are indeed correct. You prompted me to remember that! But not everyone experienced that issue. My Pixel 7 does get a little warm from time to time, but my S10 got *quite* warm with heavy use. I guess they say "YMMV" for a reason! :)

Hate to give bad news especially to a lot of us ordering hopefully Google has a solution or just test model .

Every mobile device at least for the 1st week is learning your usage and app notification habits, and during setup as well if you're moving alot of stuff over, all devices get warmish. The P8Pro I find very stable and no issues whatsoever even long periods gaming.

I really have not had the overheating issues with my 8 pro. I must have been a very good person in my past lives.
