Pixel 8 Durability

I like what Flossy was saying about phone durability, in that if you're not an idiot, and use it in the way it's supposed to be used, you won't run into any issues. No one bends their phone on purpose, nor should being able to withstand intentional bending be a standard. Just use your phone like a normal adult and you'll be fine. Slap a case on it and you'll be finer.

I'm not really a Google apologist, but give me a utility blade and a bare Samsung or iPhone, and I bet I could do some damage.
The guy is definitely entertaining

To be fair, their have been phones that could be bent by just sitting down with them in your pocket. Not a problem for Floss, but not everyone is willing to wear a shoulder holster with a phone in it.

Don't take things so literally. It's not about whether you can intentionally bend it. it's about the fact that if you can't intentionally bend it, it's pretty unlikely that you will be able to bend it unintentionelly.

Never took it literally, and to be fair, it's not a "casual" or nonchalant bend that can happen through every day motions and actions. There is some effort being put into it. If you bend it by sitting on your $1000 device, then maybe it's not the device's fault.

I'm not way accepting "shoddy" craftsmanship, but the reality is you have two slabs of glass sandwiching some delicate electronics. If that in and of itself doesn't scream, "handle with care", then maybe I need to get into your tax bracket, because I'm not so casual or flippant with my devices as to not protect them or always be aware of where they are. Some folks refuse a case or screen protector and expect their devices to be fine, and I think that's a little idealistic and unrealistic, but hey, it's not my money.

I don't sit down with my phone in my back pocket. I don't even put my phone in my back pocket. My phones fit in the front pocket of my Levi's 501 without any excessive pressure. I wear normal size not baggy or tight.

This is why I don't consider the pixel fold to have failed the Jerry rig everything test

Same to all of that, except I don't like Levi's and wear wranglers instead.

But there were phones that would bend in your front pocket with no excessive pressure and no user error involved. There was at least one iPhone, a oneplus phone and one HTC phone to my memory... But I don't remember which ones.

So who said anything about sitting on phones?

Very low comedy, that.

What kind of idiot spends hundreds of dollars (or equivalent) on a phone and then does things like that to it?

You did.

If you actually read those two comments you may be able to see that what I said was sitting down with phones in your pocket not sitting on your phone. Those are two very different statements
