The article doesn't mention an upgrade to the FPS. I thought I heard the 8 will be getting the faster ultrasonic type? I know the FPS has been a pain point for a lot of folks for the last couple of years and I know I often have to try twice to unlock my P6P.

Their presentation didn't mention the FPS at all, and I was disappointed about it. None of them have ever worked for me ... always have to use the PIN.

Yeah, I think it's the same fps as on the 7. Hopefully face unlock will work a little better? 9to5Google reported a few hours ago on a YT video that face unlock will now be secure enough to do app sign ins/financial transactions on the P8.

Same here with Google Store order and Best Buy orders - they waste no time slapping the $$$s on the card.

I ask because ISTR a shipping delay of the largest memory sizes back when the P6P came out. Wondering if something similar is happening.

I forgot about the FPS. I hadn't been using my P7 pro much, but after some software updates, the FPS does seem to be improved. Hopefully, it's even better now on the P8

I think most of the people that were following leaks and information about Pixels didn't hear anything special today. From my side, there was no wow and I wanted go to sleep, but after some deep thinking there are some doubts that I have:

- I do not understand why do I have to pay 1099 EUR for Pixel 8 Pro when it costs 999$ in US,
- I am not sure if it is me but I think that most of the new video tricks are limited to 30 FPS only. I cannot find information about recording in "boosted mode" in 4K 60FPS. As an owner of Pixel 7 Pro, the cinematic video last year was also limited and I used it just to see how does it look like and then no more lol.
- my second phone is iPhone 13 mini and while checking trade-in on Google website I can get around 540 EUR for it and around 340 EUR for Pixel 7 Pro... This is ridiculous, Google!!!
- at the moment I see no reason to buy Pixel 8 (Pro). I will wait for first reviews to check how the cameras are.

Maybe around Blackfriday there will be better price and the phone itself will be updated as well. As ex-owner of Pixel Watch I would also recommend to go for Pixel Buds, unless someone needs a watch...

Don't forget, the Americans will have to add sales tax to that $1,000 price tag.

Pulled the pin on the obsidian pro. Free pixel watch 2 included. Now I just have to break it to the better half. Delivery Oct16 or 17th.

I am so looking forward to the enhanced cameras and video functions and full biometric face unlock. Plus I have coveted that beautiful blue colour since I saw it.

I was just curious if I did better ordering direct from Google vs. Best Buy and Google wins (at least for me, trading in a good condition 6 pro). The Google trade estimate was $400 vs $355 from BB and G lets you pick your watch color...BB just gives you the black one.

I always buy unlocked from the Google Store using Google Credit 0% interest. Sometimes the trade-in might be better at other places. Sometimes the Free stuff might be better but all in all I think I get the best deal from Google.
