Pixel 9 Pro - Default Ringtone is for every App Problem

Hello,

TLDR - Can't get back app App Specific Default Notification Sounds / Ringtones

I just recently purchased a Google Pixel 9 Pro XL 128gb.

• Android Version 15
• Build Number - AP4A.250205.002
• Developer Mode / Options On
  • Only options changed are:
    • Window Animation Scale - OFF
    • Transition Animation Scale - OFF
    • Animator Duration Scale - OFF

Upon first time turning it on I imported all of my default settings / contacts / apps / etc from a backup of my old Pixel 5a running Android 12 or 13 ( i can't remember which). Then inserted my old SIM Card. I did not change any other settings.

I noticed that every app is using my phone's default ringtone for all of there notifications and not the App Default Ringtones. For example:

• My Phone's Default Notification Sound under Options > Sound & Vibration > Default Notification Sound
  • Eureka
• Microsoft Outlook's Default Notification Sound under Settings > Notifications > New Mail Sound > Sound
  • Eureka
  • (Not the typical Outlook Email Notification that we've all heard for 20 years) And there is no option to select it, only other Android Sounds.

And this is the same for EVERY app. App's that used to have distinct notification sounds (ie Life360, GMail, WhatsAPP) all have Eureka as the default with no known way to select their "proprietary" sound.

Other than trying to Factory Reset this thing and download apps one by one I'm at my wits end here. Any help would be incredibly helpful! Thanks!!

Welcome to Android Central! Go to Settings>Apps (and not Settings>Notifications), and select a specific app you're interested in (like WhatsApp). Then tap Notifications in that menu. Now choose a Conversation, then Sound -- you can change the notification tone there.

Can also reset app preference it should get all apps back to default sounds
