pixel "black screen" question, how big ?

I'm looking for a back up phone for my 5a 5g. My question is how widespread is this problem ? I'm a Pixel guy, and want to
stay with a Pixel, and I can get a brand new 3XL at the price I want to spend.
I'd hate to buy one and have it lock up on me.
Any info would be appreciated !

My Pixel 3 XL died at around 2 years and 2 months. I'd be a little cautious with getting another one, especially since it's essentially reached its support end of life.

You might want to look for a 3a XL (which is what I got after the 3 XL died, as a stopgap until the 6 came out). I got a refurbished 3a XL for $90, and it was totally fine, with the same great camera.

I thought that too, I just thought I'd how widespread the problem is.
I'm down to it, or one of the moto g's, I've had several and like them as well.
and this is a backup, in fact, I used them primarily until I went to the pixel.

My Pixel 3 is still going strong with a few minor issues since the update of Google 12. My 3 years old + battery is showing signs of old age but I haven't yet decided on its replacement.
