Have always been able to connect the Pixels to the computer via the USB cable. I'd get the device connect/disconnect sound and the phones would show up in Explorer. Could then select charging or file transfer by swiping down from the top - all was good.
Today - connected the blue Pixel, no connect sound, didn't show up in Explorer, but it was charging. Swiped down from top, selected "file transfer"
nothing - still charging. Developer Option - Select USB Configuration shows MTP (Media Transfer Protocol)
Connected the black Pixel, with a different cable (both are the ones that came with the phones) and have the same results
USB debugging mode is off in both phones.
Checked the 4 USB ports on computer - all work with USB flash drives as they should.
Using 2 different cables, going to assume it is not the cables. Rebooted computer during the process.
Both phones are charging, so there is a connection to the computer, but it will not switch over to File Transfer Mode for some reason.
Best GUESS - some update has caused this issue.
Any suggestions appreciated.
