AC Question

Here is my issue. I am trying to change the notification sound in my alarm.com app and it is pointing to the default notification sounds on the pixel. For the life of me I cannot find what folder these sounds reside in. The sounds I'm talking about are siren, birdsong, chime, clink, flick, hey, note, strum and trill. I have a file manager installed and have searched for these by the names above and can't locate them. I contacted alarm.com about their app and they said it uses the default notification sounds so I thought if I could find their location I could add the sound I want to use. On my Droid Turbo, I didn't have this issue. It seems the Turbo pointed to notifications\alerts as the default notification sound location. I have no idea where the Pixel is pointing for by default!

It's in a folder called Notifications (case matters). I get to it by going into settings... Storage... Then at the bottom select explore and it'll open up the built in file manager. Select Pixel from the menu on the left.

Thanks for the reply. Ok I can get to notifications but the alerts I referenced above are not in there. I am assuming those are the stock alerts that come with the Pixel. Do you see those alerts in your alerts folder? I'm not sure what is going on here? Thanks.

You won't see the stock alerts there as they are part of the system. But any alert sounds you add to that folder will then appear available to you to choose for notification sounds.

There is also a folder called Alarms and Ringtones so you can add custom sound alerts for those as well.

Oh ok. Weird. Wonder why the alarm.com app will only see the system alerts and nothing in the alerts folder. Guess I will have to go back to them and see if I have any options. The stock alerts are pretty awful (IMO). Plus I'm used to the alert I had set for the same app on my Turbo. Thanks for the help.

Did you try putting those into the Alarms folder? Maybe that's where they need to be for that app.

Yup, unfortunately it's a no go. I heard back from alarm.com and they said they had similar results with the Nexus 6, so it's something with the OS on certain hardware I guess. Something way over my head!

Can you use custom alarm tones with the stock clock app once they're in there? Just curious, but still waiting on my Pixel to arrive.

I put my go to alarm tone (the Beatles singing, I"m so tired, haven't slept a wink...) in the folder and checked it as the default and that is what I hear when the alarm goes off. So yeah, it does work.
