Pixel Sound quality

For me, it is just a bit louder than my Note 7 speaker. It's OK, not great , not awful IMO ...
I find it quite a bit louder than my Note 7. My only complaint with that phone was the speaker. (other than the recall crap) I don't care at all about music quality thru phone speakers because why would I listen to music thru them. I do need to have business speaker phone conversations sometimes.

"The Pixel and Pixel XL use the Aqstic DAC that Qualcomm developed for late model SD 820 and 821 SoC."
Interesting. This Pixel device just keeps on impressing me. Google definitely went all out :)

The problem is that DAC sounds like crap (same as in S7: http://forums.androidcentral.com/sa...lse-unhappy-audio-quality-galaxy-s7-edge.html). I only care about the earphone jack output quality. If it doesn't sound at least as good as my 6P I will be disappointed. I get mine on Wed, so I guess I will know soon. I was really hoping they would let HTC take care of the sound like they did on the HTC 10. Since they never mentioned sound quality in the presentation, I knew it wouldn't be good.

The S7 doesn't appear to use the same DAC that the Note 7, HTC 10 and Pixel devices use.

Depends.

If it has a DAC, then great sound quality will become a requirement for everyone. If it doesn't have a DAC, then people all of a sudden will remember that they can't hear the difference anyway.

Not true at all lol, comparing my HTC to y GF's galaxy or my mother's iPhone is a HUGE difference. When I plug my phone into the car, I'll put it at volume 3, the audio is clear, and powerful. When my GF plugs her phone in the volume will be up to 15 and still doesn't sound as good as mine does at 3, same with my mother's iPhone, although the iPhone does better than the galaxy. I've tested all these phones the only one comparable to HTC is the LG v20 but still rank HTC top in the audio department. Dual sensor cameras, all metal bodies, antenna bands hi-res audio, powerful dual speakers, live photos, etc... HTC has set the standard for audio, design, and innovation for years ! HTC is perhaps the most underrated phone manufacturer.

I agree! I think their hardware is exceptional. Nothing cheap feeling about an HTC handset for sure

What is your verdict? Headphone jack louder than 6P? Speaker louder than 6P?

I tested out the speakers today with Spotify...they sound pretty good to me. Nothing amazing but I don't know why the reviews were saying it was so poor.

The audio quality also sounded great over bluetooth in my '14 Ford Focus. I'm going to try them with my beats to see how it sounds.

iPhone 7 still has a DAC. Remember that "converter" that converts lighting to 3.5MM? There is no DAC nor AMP in there, so where do you think the DAC is?

Lol why would you think the dongle has no DAC?

If the DAC was onboard, then the digital signal would transform to an analog signal. How would the analog signal be transmitted through Lightning's data only interface?
