Question Pixel Stand Gen 2 - how to interact with phone while charging?

This may sound simple or dumb but my wife and I have this stand and while charging it no matter how i tap or swipe it will go into the charger settings, control home when i want to see my lock screen. I then tap the side button on my Pixel 6 and it goes back to the dark charging screen and then a second time to actually get to the lock screen so i can get into my phone.

This thing came with no directions. Is there a magic swipe i can do to go from the default charge screen to the lock screen? Because it always does the opposite of what i want, If I want the control screen (or whatever the exact name is) i get the lock screen and if I want the lock screen I get the control screen.

If you have Smart Lock turned on so that it stays unlocked in a Trusted Place, that might be preventing the lockscreen from showing up. I just turned off my Smart Lock, and if I double-tap the dim screen while my 7 Pro is on my 1st gen Pixel Stand, it brings up the lockscreen.
