I have a Pixel 1 and would love to upgrade, but the lack of headphone jack is a little off-putting. I do not desire to spend extra money to get a bluetooth headset that will not get used often. I don't use the headset much but it sure is nice when I need to.

Give me your two cents on the headphone jack and bluetooth.

They include a set of wired earbuds that use the USB C port or use what you have with the adapter... it works great

But then what happens when the USB C jack wears out from all the use?
You just said you don't use it often so i doubt a couple more plug one won't be that big a deal. These orders are designed to be more robust and durable than older usb. There is a video where Linus tests the durability of usb c if your interested. If you are truly worried you might wear or the port in a couple years, use wireless charging or get the protection plan.
In all honesty it will be a not issue.

May be we are not going to be using headphones while charging as often than we think. I think the dongle should suffice. well, that is if we are carrying one with our headphones always I guess.

I thought the same thing about Headphones when I bought the Pixel 2 Xl but I bought some bluetooth earbuds and have never looked back. Plus Bluetooth earbuds are cheaper than ever before, purchase a cheap pair and give it a try.

I've been without a head phone jack for the last 2 years with the Droid Z. It's really not a big deal. I have Bluetooth ear buds all the time. When they are being charged I plug in regular head phones with the dongle. Only time it could have been a real issue is if you need to charge the phone and listen to music at the same time , cant happen. Pixel 3 solved it with wireless charging .

They don't wear out

I can speak about the USB C jack, but my nephew had a couple phones where the charging port failed due to a lot of use. Granted that was a microUSB port, and maybe the USB C port is stouter, but anything can wear out with time and use.

I would say if the OP is really worried about using the port too much, then maybe he should make use of wireless charging instead of wired. He wouldn't have to get the Pixel Stand if he's only worried about charging it, from what I've heard most any wireless charging pad will work to charge it. So that would save wear and tear on the charging port.
