Picked up a Pixel yesterday from Best Buy (Verizon branded), and returned it today. I have the 10, and can't say anything about the Pixel blew me away. I will say I am on AT&T, and it worked fine. Set it up with AT&T sim, no issues. Deleted the 3 Verizon apps. Got a software update after setup, with AT&T sim, so doesn't seem to be a problem there. Build quality is about equal, both feel solid. I could not see a difference in screen clarity or brightness, it's LCD vs Amoled, so you know the drill. The chin on the Pixel killed me. I didn't think it would bother me, but it just looks stupid with nothing down there, no home button, etc. The Google Assistant is more conversational, but doesn't really offer a ton more than Google now. Speaker quality is awful. I'm not blown away by the 10's speakers frankly, but Pixel was bad. Camera is better. Pictures have richer color quality than the 10, but I'm not a huge photographer. For the price ($741 out the door for the 32 gig) not even close to being worth that. You are paying top dollar for Google assistant and faster updates, even though the 10 is unlocked. I'll wait for the update on my HTC. In the words of my boy Floss, this is definitely not a Go.

Even though it was "Verizon" listed at BB all Pixels are the same so that is why you saw what you saw.

Keep enjoying your 10 -- You have to go with what works for you. For me the camera on the 10 is a huge deal breaker whereas for you it isn't. Different needs / wants are different for everyone :).

Pixel will never win a 24 hour showdown like this. Over time however, the immense levels of thought and optimization that have gone into the device start to reveal themselves and set the Pixel apart from any other device.

Well the Pixel isn't a bad phone, it just doesn't do anything special for me compared to the other 2016 offerings. However it's priced as if it has reinvented the wheel or something.

I'm not a technical illiterate, so the 24/7 support is not a selling point.

Google assistant is a joke. It isn't ready for prime time, it's just a slightly better Google now.

'Best' software is highly subjective. I preferred the Note's GraceUX TouchWiz over the Pixel launcher.

I think most people just wanted a Google phone. I honestly still don't see the appeal of the Pixel but then again that's the beauty of Android. There's a phone for everyone.

Camera is just whatever, the HTC 10 has a great one as far as I'm concerned, and that's really all I needed.

I've got a bridge in New York for sale if you're interested.

Nah, it's just an Android like the rest of them.

Interesting, I just sent back my HTC 10 to keep the Pixel. Price is a non factor for me, so I won't even bring that up. But man, to say the speaker is bad is not accurate. If anything, it is better than I thought it would be, and the 10 was worse than I thought it would be. I am also noticing that signal is much better on the Pixel than on the 10 (which is also odd considering signal strength is giving people issues). And my god, the camera on the Pixel blows away anything the 10 could do. Its more fluid and so far, no apps are crashing on me. I don't know why but I had several apps just crash repeatedly on the 10.

I will say that I liked the build of the 10 a little more, and I also prefer the fingerprint reader on the front. And yes, the chin of the Pixel is stupid but I've already gotten used to it. To me, deciding between these two phones is going to depend on what your priorities are. I think both phones are fantastic though.

I will grant you the camera is much better. I just don't take enough pictures to make a difference. I have the 6s plus and the S7 edge too, (I may have a problem) so I guess $750 is to high for a fourth device that didn't bring much new to the table. Personal opinion. That's why we don't all buy iPhones and call it a day. I think I would have sold them all and been happy with the Note7 if I could have kept it.

I agree, I'm not saying it's a crap phone. It has potential, just didn't wow me.

I think this conversation happens quite a bit. The usual consensus is that there never is a huge jump from one generation to the next.

I don't see the ops post as bringing anything new to the table.

I was eyeballing the HTC 10. My droid turbo was great. I hated the camera performance and finally had enough. If the 10's Camera performed as well as the pixel's I'd be using that right now

HTC 10 anyday of the week. Pixel and pixel XL aren't worth the price. I will buy any other high end smartphone before I go for the pixel. I've seen horrible reviews about it and also the fact that it's barely available on carriers anymore... 6p was the best and last nexus phone I ever bought and probably ever will... it's downhill for the pixel man... I don't want no part of that. Keep the 10 and you'll be much happier.

Sorry. I'm still kind of new at the forums. Just putting my experience out there

Sorry if it came off harsh. I just don't see why people are comparing these to other 2016 phones. I don't expect it to be too different at all.

If price bothers people why did they ever purchase anything but a flip phone? Perceived value is different from cost of services. Other phones can't guarantee monthly updates, broad support for 2 years, or even the 24/7 built in support.

Google can't offer that for free. Hardware is one thing but continued product development, including R&D, costs money. Apple does a great job at mitigating compromise.

Well, it has staying power. Your htc10 is worthless in 12 months.

It has unlimited free uncompressed picture and video storage in google photos. It's runs butter smooth, beyond anything ever released running android. It's battery life is excellent, better than the htc10 or Samsung s7 edge / fireball. It is an emerging vr platform, and includes a free vr headset. It is also a platform for the number one mobile software company in the world. Your guaranteed software updates for 2 years. The device is easily rooted and modified, 3rd party rom development will be rampant in the near future.

Enjoy your htc10.

Cool story bro.

Now explain in detail your other post (quoted below for your convenience) about how the Pixel had "immense levels of thought and optimization" that will "reveal themselves" in the future.

Look I get it, you're excited about your phone, but that doesn't mean I cannot call you out for spewing non-factual verbal diarrhea about how great the Pixel is.

I'm willing to be proven wrong, just clarify what exactly is different about the version of Nougat that the Pixel is running. Go on, I have all night.

I been on the search for the perfect phone for "ME" all summer. I have had the Honor 8, Axon 7, LG V20, Note 7, Pixel XL 32gb and the HTC 10 is my current phone. The HTC 10 and Pixel XL were my favorite and followed closely by The Honor 8 and the Note 7.

My goal is to find a phone that I can keep for 2 or 3 years because my wife bet I could not do it. After using all of these phone for about two weeks each. (except for the 10. I have been using the 10 for about 2 1/2 months.) I have decided on the Pixel XL.

I went with the Pixel because it is the smoothest android phone I have ever used. I can count on it to be updated during that time. The camera takes excellent pictures. I love the glass and metal back. And the free full resolution photo and video storage is a definite plus. I take a ton of videos and pics of the kids.

I like my 10 so much that I am going to keep it as a spare. This will be the first time I actually keep a phone and not sell it once I got a new one.

I have nothing bad to say about the other above mentioned phones, I just think this is the best phone for my two year mission.

My initial post was in response to what is clearly a perposterious less than 24 hour trial. To commit this act, and then post in the device forum as if you are providing value to anyone here is where this post went of the rails.

In response to your question, the Pixel has the best camera available, irregardless of dxomarks findings which also state this. The camera is all software, all optimization. You can't come to this realization in less than 24 hours on how good the camera is. The fingerprint sensor having the ability to pull down the notification bar becomes surprisingly useful over time. The weight distribution of the device is perfect, and this becomes more apparent over time. The built in caller ID functionality within the dialer is highly useful, but again you don't know this until someone calls you that you don't expect which may not happen in the first 24 hours. The way that icons fall within a folder in the launcher so you can peak at 4 at once on the home screen is neat, and again useful for those who use folders. Having the ability to access over a million public access points automatically with a vpn nailed up to protect your data is a great feature. Assistant is great, and will only get better. Everything about the device is right, down to the notification bar shortcuts and ability to edit, and system sounds.

Little things like the above, over and over and over again add up. Performance that never drops a frame, stutters or lags is truly unique to android and ultimately adds up. I mentioned vr, that adds up. Free photo storage, including 4K video and even 20+ MB raw images adds up.

Between my last 2 posts there are at least a dozen items that set it apart. It is a unique experience that takes some time to fully appreciate. Google didn't just push this thing out the door.

Can't decide. Kept both!! Originally had the HTC 10 and loved it. Got the Pixel and loved it more. Now my HTC 10 resides in my bedroom for night time emergency calls only since I don't have a landline phone. The Pixel just does everything I want.

I'm with you only I'm keeping my S7 edge. Even my ZTE axon 7 mini impressed me more(except for speed) . But my mini is used just for media. I'm starting to wonder how much cash Google paid all of these reviewers that are making this device God's gift to the tech world. There isn't anything I can do on the pixel, that can't be done on my other 2 phones.

Dude, there are some bets that are not worth winning. This may be one of them. Good luck!

I love my Pixel XL, and I expect to skip version 2, but I will be jonesing by the 18 month mark.
