Okay, I admit that a year ago - and even a week ago - I didn't think that the Pixel Watch 2 offered enough of a change to justify the expense of upgrading from the original. I also admit that I was wrong (again) and that I am late to the party. ;)

I was actually patiently waiting for the PW3 to come down to the price point I think it merits (almost $500 CAD for the delicate flower is too much IMHO), but against my (sometimes) better judgement, I recently purchased the PW2 at a price I couldn’t say no to, instead (hey, who can pass up a good bargain?). I wasn't expecting much other than a watch that was 1 year newer.

Well, butter my butt and call me a biscuit, the PW2 blows the original PW out of the water in a couple of significant ways. The first is battery life. I was shocked when I first saw my new PW2 go almost 22 hours using only 40% of the battery (two things of note: I don't use AOD, but I am also currently running Wear OS 4 [Wear OS 5 will purportedly offer a significant boost to battery life]). The second is charging the battery. The PW2 appears to be about 20% faster than the original Pixel Watch.

When I consider the significantly better battery life and charging speeds, along with the improved crown, a snappier feel and all of the new features (along with the seemingly improved accuracy on the old/existing features), I’m left wondering what the heck took me so long to find out that I was wrong.

If you are thinking about upgrading from the original Pixel Watch, or are considering a move to a Google Pixel Watch, I would highly recommend that you take a good, hard look at the Pixel Watch 2. Given that it uses basically the same hardware as the PW3 at a significantly reduced price, this watch is an incredible bargain that won’t disappoint.

I jumped, well, slogged to the PW3 after a sudden inexplicable decrease in battery life for my PW1. Also had a credit for jumping (too soon?) to the Fold 9 which I used in the purchase. What else was I going to buy in the Google Store???
