So my pixel charges about 10% per 20mins last I timed it was from 38%to 48% in 20 mins using the charger and cables that came with it. Is this normal? from everything I read it should charge faster than that. Sorry if this has been brought up before I tried searching and couldn't find anything.

Most definitely not normal.

Charging does slow down as you approach 85% and up, but should go much faster than you are seeing. Are you *certain* you are using the original cable and charger? Are both connectors inserted fully?

PS: Just to give you an example, I plugged my Pixel XL in as I was writing my previous post. It was at 80% and now, about 8 mins later, it is at 88% and says 18 minutes left until full.

As I said, charging does slow down as you approach 100%.

Yes it's the one that came with it and I double checked to make sure both sides were pushed in all the way. Quick question though my first usb C device does it matter which side is up or down, it looked rounded like it didn't matter what way it went in unlike the micro usb that had to be lined up to plug in

I only charge my phones with the OEM charger. Have seen negative impacts on battery life when using other chargers.

This is the first phone I am using OEM for wall charging. I use the one it came with at work and I bought an extra one that I keep at home.

No, up or down does not matter - that is one of the selling points for USB-C. Apparently some people complained that they had to actually look at their Micro-USB cable to figure out which way to plug it in. Oh, the horror!

I use the stock OEM charger bedside at home and carry one of these in my backpack for work and travel: https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...m/us/?noRedirect=true&hl=en_US&token=o5vVrdfC. This is the one I was using earlier when I charged from 80% to 88% in 8 minutes.

Do you have a case on your phone? If so, make absolutely certain that it is not limiting full insertion of the USB-C connector.

Thanks for the help and ideas. I used the Google support on the phone. They gave me a list of things to try the last of which is a factory reset which I did. Going to see how it charges today I will even try removing it from the case while charging just to make sure even though the opening on my case for the charger port is pretty big.

I am having the same issue on my standard Pixel.

I found that a reboot would help, but its very inconvenient to do this every time I plug in the phone.

Did the factory reset have any impact? I only want to do this if it actually helps.

Thanks!

Definitely not normal, particularly if you're using the cable and charger that came in the box. I'd contact Google support right away. They will likely ask you to do some (probably meaningless) troubleshooting, but the least they should offer int he end is a new charger ... if not a new phone.

The factory reset did nothing, after trying everything Google support had me do they told me to contact Verizon about a replacement.
