Pixel XL not hotspotting on Verizon

Hi,

I switched from Project Fi to Verizon a few months ago, having bought my Pixel XL through Fi. (Sadly Fi just didn't have the coverage I need in Colorado.)

On Fi, the phone would hotspot no problem. Now on Verizon it will activate the hotspot, I can connect to it from several laptops, but it will not provide internet service through the hotspot.

I have confirmed with Vz that hotspotting is allowed and is activated on my plan, and my wife's iPhone7 hotspots fine (we're on the same plan), as does my old Nexus 5P with my Vz SIM card in it. So it looks like it's the Pixel XL and not the plan or service.

Edit: I should add that I spent a long time on the phone with Vz level 2 tech support and they don't know what's wrong; they say everything looks right from their end.

Anyone have any ideas to fix this?

Thanks,
Toby.

Could it be an APN issue? I had a similar problem on T-mo with texts. Ended up having to change the APN settings and it took right off

Belay that, problem seems to be solved. Had Vz L2 support back on the phone, they said I have the correct APN settings. After trying changing password a bunch, the tech suggested setting the security type to None and seeing if that allowed data to flow, which it did. Setting it back to WPA2 still worked, so it looks like we're good. Weird, though.
