Pixel XL or Essential?

Hi,

I'm using a Pixel XL (2016) and I like it, but the 32GB capacity is limiting my usage: 4k videos and large music library.

I want to buy a phone with at least 128GB but I don't want to pay more than €500. Do you think that the Essential Phone is a good choice to replace my Pixel XL? I understand that the camera is worse, but is it really bad, or is it just 2017-bad?

Thanks!

It's just 2017 bad. If you sideload the Google camera apk you get the same camera app. Its not as good but I'd say it's on par with an s7 camera but should still get better. I did some comparison shots against my iPhone X and the pictures stood on their own just looked a little flat side by side. I think the essential phone is great. I'd say it beats out the op5t by a hair.
There should be some great deals today and tomorrow. I know Best buy has it at $499 and you get the 360 camera attachment for free. Wouldn't surprise me to see Amazon drop it to lower than $499 for cyber Monday. On a side note the screen looks fantastic for a lcd. Great screen.

Thanks! That's what I thought. People are so sensitive about the camera nowadays that I'm having a hard time figuring out if photos and videos captured with the Essential or the OP5T are terrible or just on par with the iPhone 7 :)

I'm wating for a price drop Monday because I'm from Portugal and I have to buy it from Amazon.

I agree with andrew-ackley. I sideloaded the Google Camera APK as well. Disclaimer: I am NOT a photo afficianado. The camera is just not on the levels of the best out there, but is more than acceptable.

I think that pair would make a great vs video. I imagine both are better than their price point. I couldn't get a 5t if I wanted since I'm on Verizon.
