Play Books vs Kindle Books

I only have experience with the Kindle app and was wondering if there are many major differences in the look and feel of the format. I'm wanting to switch from Kindle to Play just for the ecosystem feel of Play.

Also, can books that have been downloaded previously in .epub format be transfered into Play books?

The interface in Play Books is much better in my opinion. You get kind of a 3D view of your books that, when you scroll to the side, you can see you "thick" they are. And they are presented to you in this carousel format. The 3D page turning animations are awesome too. What I don't like is that Play Books doesn't seem to have a dictionary feature yet (like you can't hold down a word and select it to define it).

I'm not sure about transferring books to Play, but probably not because of the protection. It would be 100% easier to just download the Kindle App and use it to view those older books.

Play books is awesome. For books I've downloaded somewhere else I use go books. Haven't tried to see if go books or play books reads Amazon kindle books tho.

Another thing Play Books doesn't have is the off-white yellowish background color option for easier reading. It only has black-on-white and white-on-black night mode. (both of them hurt my eyes at night)

I don't think there's any way to get your Kindle books on Play so I'll just finish all of my Kindle books and start buying from the Play Store from here on out.
