Play Counts and Smart Playlists in Google Play Music

I noticed that when I play a song in Google Play Music on my phone (Nexus 5) that the play count isn't reflected on the main Google Play Music website.

Is this something that isn't supported in Google Play Music - as in do play counts only increase when you actually play tracks via the web browser?

I was also looking for a way to create smart playlists - I recently switched from an iPhone and iTunes and one of the playlists I used frequently was a smart one which contained only songs with a play count of zero.

Is it possible to create such playlists in Google Play Music?

Thanks in advance.

As a huge fan of Google's streaming service for music, I have been missing these exact features for a while now. No, smarter playlists than thumbs up and recently added aren't supported yet. The EQ is way too hard to navigate to and should be a lot more accessible, preferably from anywhere.

If you're using the radio function a lot, I guess playlists aren't important to you as compared to me, who has uploaded his entire music collection and would like to see more extensive library options.

You've chosen a good player and streaming service, wait for the features, I trust Google will make it worth your while.

This was a feature I missed too, so I made a Chrome Extension to add smart playlists to Google Music. I don't have enough posts to link it, unfortunately, but you can find it at github.com/simon-weber.

It's in an unlisted Web Store beta right now; check it out and let me know what you think!

So is there a way to incorporate my current playlist into the system. Play by least recently played. I have a playlist of over 200 songs, multiple artist across multiple genres. Walk me through it, if possible.
