I need to uncheck this option to allow map directions be read out on car stereo using android auto. I have looked in Google maps, settings, navigation settings but it's not there on my wife's work phone. It's on every other android phone I have looked at. Anyone know why it wouldn't be there. It has android phone v7 latest maps downloaded. I have looked on older phones and the setting is there.

Welcome to Android Central! I actually don't use Android Auto much, since my car has good in-dash nav based on Google Maps. But on her phone, open Google Maps, then tap the profile pic at the upper right, then Navigation Settings. There's no toggle for Play Voice Over Bluetooth there?

There's no toggle switch there. Any other phones we have it's there. Maps version is the same as on my p30 Pro and it has it.

Go to Settings>Bluetooth, and tap the gear icon next to the car system. Are Media Audio and Phone Audio toggled on?

I saw this post on another site, I think what we're overlooking is the fact that this is their wife's work phone. After reading the way it was worded there and following the thread here I'm thinking that this is a device issued by the wife's work, which means it could have all kinds of options missing or turned off vs an off the shelf device. Each time they were asked to look for something or go to a menu the settings were missing or unchangeable. To me that sounds like a corporate locked device. I never got a reply to the question if it was just a device used for work or one issued by an employer but that's my guess.

Very good point!

They replied to my question on the other site and it is indeed a corporate issued phone and the wife is planning to talk to her IT when she returns. The OP said they were trying to get solved on their own before the return.

The version of maps is 10.45.2 but I don't think that is the issue as I've seen eirlier versions with this option visible. Thanks for all the replies. Ill have to wait I think till she goes back to work and asks some questions there.
