Tonight in Hollywood, Sprint sponsored an AFI event for Jerry Bruckheimer and as part of that event, they had a set-up featuring a bunch of EVOs and a 4G hotspot.
I'm now even MORE excited for June 4th. I was immediately impressed by how fast and smooth operation of the EVO and 2.1 was. The screen size was a real surprise. Holding the EVO up next to my Hero was shocking. The widgets are HUGE! The screen made the Hero's image look ridiculously minuscule. It made the Hero look like a toy phone. I also found the image size to be a very comfortable size for viewing videos. I was worried that the image would be of the iPhone variety where you really had to hold it up to within a foot for adequate viewing of video. Maybe it has to do with the increased resolution of the EVO, but watching a video while the phone was sitting on the table in front of me seemed very doable.
It's hard to talk about the 4G speeds since this was a temp 4G hotspot. I'd rather waiting and see what the real world serves up... Unfortunately, the Sprint rep said 4G availability would be complete until Nov/Dec of this year. it'll be rolling out throughout the year, but the entire city (and suburbs) wouldn't be complete until end of year.
