I just bought an Evo and have downloaded songs from Amazon. I have a 2009 VW Tiguan and would like to play the songs through the radio. I read here I needed a 3.5 aux cable. I bought that at Radio shack and plugged one end into my phone and the other into my aux cable spot in the cars middle console. Now what do I do to make it play the songs? Thank you :)

Make sure its set in your cars stereo to aux or line in or user device, and play music while fiddling with it and it will play music in the same way if you had a earbuds instead of a car hooked up.

I dont see anything at the top of my phone to change to disk drive? I see little headphone symbol at the top

If i had your car id know.
Id imagine its some sort of a toggle between CD/Radio/and Aux. Look for it, and check your owners manual of your car or google it and you may get lucky :p

Not in the owners manual that I could find but googled and found a cache from old VW OC thread. You have to hit the CD button twice and it turns on aux. Thanks! O:-) It sounds perfect! I just bought the suv a few months ago and the evo yesterday ( first smartphone) so was totally lost since I am technology challenged :-[

Go to Menu > Settings > Default Connection Type > Disk Drive.

EDIT: Glad to see you got it working. Right now I'm using my headphone jack in a cassette tape adapter which works pretty well but it's time for me to get a new stereo! Thanks for this thread... now I'll know what to do. :)

Uhm...theres no reason to turn on disk drive on the phone to send sound out the headphone jack....

Yeah, that's what I was thinking.

If anyone has a car stereo that will read USB mass storage, then the disk drive setting will work, but not for the OP.

disk drive doesn't turn on with the earphones. why would it turn on with the radio.

he's not plugging into the usb port to which he might not have. he's plugging into the aux port.

It was early or I would have realized she wasn't using her usb :p My stereo is old and I use a cassette adapter so I haven't tried to run it through a newer stereo, although I have looked at them. Many have usb ports in them so I presume you can run it through that way as well, right? Lol, I am pretty good with phone stuff but not so good with car stereos!

Oh the joys of those quirky little Volkswagens...Big ones too...It won't be that simple...trust me. Edit: I was right, you have to hit the CD button twice to get to AUX...Simpler than I imagined still.

Yea very simple but finding which button was difficult. I was thinking it was buried in the tons of menus that pop up for mp3s when you hold the scan tune button. The owners manual for these cars are not the best.

I was also confused why people were telling me to look for disk drive on the phone for this lol. I did however use that option when I pasted a folder of downloaded music onto the evo from my computer. It just popped up when I connected it.

Ok does anyone know how I now can use the evo with the bluetooth in the VW? I have a little phone button on the steering wheel. Again manual no help.

Unfortunately, no...they're all different.
