Please! Can someone help me! Root problems!

I was trying to root my mytouch 3g, and when flashing the zip, i get this error...

E:Failure at line 2:assert getprop("ro.product.device") == "heroc"

I'm trying to install an htc hero rom

PLEASE HELP!

I can't really help ya, but when I was installing unrEVOked forever, it said if you get any error messages starting with E: to stop right away and join IRC for support! But like I said, that was using unrevoked forever, and on my Incredible. Might just be coincidence, or possibly a bad sign...
