Yes, a .CSV file will fit nicely in a spreadsheet. But it will not save avatar photos, notes, birthdays, addresses, etc. Using .vcf will preserve all that extra info most people put in contacts.

Well, I did learn some thing about the export. If you export in Google CSV there is a lot of data which is not included in the export but if you export to Outlook CSV all data is exported except for the avatar. I guess it comes down to personal preference but I would really want to see the data in a format that I can see includes all of the information that I need.

I don't know anything about Outlook and with luck never will. Whatever works for you is fine by me. Party on.

I just wanted to answer the question with a method that preserves everything, so he didn't come back saying "Well, I lost my avatar photos and..."

I understand many people hate Outlook (not me) but even if he does not have outlook the Outlook CSV can be opened in Excel so he can see all of the data in a readable format
