Hi all,

I am hoping someone in the forums can help me. I have received no help from VZW in store techs, the Twitter support person, or via the phone. So here is the short story.

-I purchased my original Note 2 December 2012
-9/17/13 while traveling my phone stopped connecting to wifi
-9/18/13 I went to VZW store in TX. They did some "troubleshooting" and a factory reset. This didn't work so they ordered me a replacement
-9/21/13 I get replacement #1 and set it up and charge it yada yada...well while it is charging the battery life is decreasing. So I stop messing with it and let it charge. I take it off the charger because I am onsite for work and need to get things done. Within one hour I had lost 30% charge.
So I go to the VZW store again and the guy does no troubleshooting and orders me a 2nd replacement.
9/24/13 I receive replacement #2. I charge it up and it is good to go. I unplug the charger and it shuts off. Well that is strange. I turn it back on and the battery has drained which I found strange. I plug the charger back in, unplug and it shuts off. WTH. So by this point I am beyond frustrated. I had to buy an external charging pack because I have super long days while working and can't be without my phone.
What are the odds someone gets two bad phones in a row.

So I decide well maybe it is the battery. I go back to Verizon store and want to get what I think is a defective battery replaced. The tech guy wants to charge me for a replacement battery and I am not having that. I leave the store and call VZW support. The lady is really nice and overnights me a new one.
9/26/13 I get the replacement battery. Swap it out and charge it up! well guess what!? The same thing is still happening. My battery is draining at lightening speed. I can not believe this!

I need help because I am at a lost of what to do. I have the Wakelock Detector app but it doesn't show anything odd and neither does the GSam battery app.

That sounds like a lot of battery drain. I know you said you ran apps to try and spot anything weird but what do you have running?

The apps I have running to spot anything weird are Wakelock Detector and GSam battery. I don't have any other unusual apps running. I stick to all the standard popular apps. My phone is stock and not even a custom launcher.

Only reason why I ask is because even the regular apps can hog the battery.

There's a battery saving guide here that may help.

Yes you are very correct. Thank you for the guide. I will check it out. It is just strange because the day before I switched to replacement #1 I got like 15 hours of battery life. Everything happened when I switched to replacements 1 and 2

I just landed in a different city. I turned off my phone it was at 84% battery. I went to get it out my bag upon landing and it was very warm as well as the battery was at 72% when I turned it on. Any more ideas?

you shouldnt have to use battery saving tips with the note 2. i was getting around 30 hours from my note 2 when it was stock and unrooted

try calling vzw and try getting them to send you a "new" phone and not a refurbished one

My original Note 2 I never worried about my battery life. Two refurbished phones and things have gone to hell in a hand basket.
Any chance my SIM card cold be damaged from switching between phones and that's the culprit?

i dont want to say yes or no and be wrong, but if it is the sim causing it then i dont understand how or why

Super unlikely it's the sim cars. The Sim is basically a basic memory card. The common item in all these things that has not been mentioned is the charger. It's not that uncommon for people to have problems with refurbished phones. When you say bad battery life, what are you getting in hours? How often do you reboot the phone? What apps are you using constantly? Things like maps use a lot of power because the screen is on, they pull data, and GPS.

Hi Liquidretro, It is not the sim card as VZW gave me a new one after trying 2 replacement phones and a new battery. The phone is charging so it is not the charger.
Bad battery life as in 5 hours 16 minutes on battery and it is at 28% and less than an hour of screen on time.
I've been through 2 replacement phones in less than 2 weeks. I have disabled just about everything and all the stupid pre-installed apps. GPS is always off and I turned it off in Maps app. I uninstalled Facebook as I heard that could be a battery drain source.
On my original phone I would go 14+ hours on one charge. I never had to worry about disabling apps, turning off this that and everything else. I am beyond frustrated! No one seems to have the answer.
Since the phone issues. I barely use my phone. Thank goodness I have a tablet. However I love the Note 2 and what is supposed to be great battery life.

Did I mention the phone is overheating even when it is powered all the way off

What do you mean it's overheating when it's off? This means the processor is active which explains why the battery life is poor. Facebook should not be a problem since millions of people use it successfully.

Keep getting replacements, Ask for new say you have been through all of this. I would call into support and get the case escalated to the next level of management. Be nice about it but firm. Your phone is quite new to be having these problems. What you have is clearly a lemon.

Yes overheating while off. I was on a flight. Powered it all the way off for takeoff. Upon landing I grabbed it out of my bag like I always do (I fly 2-3 times a month) and it was HOOOOT and the battery drained like 30% during the hour flight.
The guy at VZW tried to tell me well sometimes they dont turn all the way off even though the screen goes black. I call BS.

I am getting a 3rd replacement. It should arrive tomorrow. I am going to set it up and then factory reset from the beginning. If that doesn't work I will be calling. I may have to get crazy woman on them.
