So last year, my friend convinced me to Root me HTC one x (BIG MISTAKE) esp since it seems (from my research so far) to have a WHOLE HEAP of hardware issues.

So the screen stopped unlocking properly and wouldn't activate when you pressed the unlock button and I was having the WIFI issue thats pretty common, I sent it to be repaired with my phone company 6 weeks later I get it back, wifi issue is fixed but not the screen! So i sent it away with them AGAIN and 4 weeks later they say they wont fix it because its rooted. (Didn't matter before but hey) So, then things went worse, we found a repair centre and sent it off along with their ?18 "diagnostic fee." then we have to pay ?96 to have the logic board (huh?) replaced, okay fine, we get it back and it was crashing within 30 seconds of booting, send it back to them again (so they can fix it PROPERLY this time) and nearly 4 weeks later, they still haven't fixed it and say they can try to repair it, but there is a 50/50 chance they will brick it!! since the first time around it came back with food crumbs and we since found a whole heap of awful reviews of the place, I asked them to return the phone and the ?96 repair charge. Its now been nearly 6 months I've been phoneless and still being charged the ?30 a month for my freaking phone contract! Is there anything I can do?? We are looking into other repair shops, but if that is true that they could kill the phone, sensing my luck so far I will undoubtedly end up with a very nice looking paperweight! Has anyone else had this issue, is it true that the phone could be bricked or just really incompetent repair people? What can I do? Would HTC replace/repair the phone?

Oki thanks guys I really appreciate any advice!

If you would of been honest with htc, they probably wouldn't charge you as much. They would probably replace the screen and motherboard. As for all the "repairs" done, it's hard to tell if the brick is either hardware or software. If it's hardware, you're best bet is to send it to htc and hear what they have to say. If it's software, you can send it to a jtag service. But again it is hard to determine at this point.

BTW I like your avatar ^_^
