Please Help. I am having trouble with found new hardware message

I followed the directions very carefully in the article written by Jerry Hilldebrand called "SDK, drivers and root oh my" I have gotten to the step where you connect the nexus one (with usb debugging checked) and it says found new hardware ok but the next step in the article lists options my computer is not showing me. I am not talking about the menu on my phone I am talking about the new hardware pane that opens up when you connect something new to the computer. in the article it lists "Locate and install driver software, Don't search online...ect.." I am not presented with these options OR (More likely I'm missing something that I was supposed to do. What did I miss or where did I go wrong?? Please any help at all would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I won't be able to help you much, but my gut instinct makes me think you're talking about options in your phone, not on your computer.

Anyways, when more helpful people arrive, they're going to want to know what article you're referring to, so definitely post a link to it.
