Please help - I screwed up

I think I screwed up. I was rooted with unrevoked3 and tried to flash a ROM using ROM manager. I backed up before I did so. Something went wrong and somehow my phone went back to stock HTC without root. Now I can't root (at least using unrevoked) and I think its because the recovery got messed up. When I try to boot into recovery I get an error.

Is there a way I can restore my backup without rooting? Or a way to root that would work?

I am far from an expert at these matters, so please give me some slack.

This really doesn't make any sense. Simply flashing a ROM would not unroot your phone. What ROM was it?

Do you still have s-off?

Maybe something went wrong with your recovery and somehow got a stock rom.

Like what jpsamora said, what rom was it?
