I'm new here. I currently have a Storm 1 and am looking to upgrade. I think I want a droid phone.....but which one? I'm not leaving Verizon so its either the Moto Droid or Droid Eris. Please be kind and give me some pro's, con's of both.

I am standing by with my fire extinguisher incase I get flamed!!:D

Moto Droid has larger screen, higher res screen, flash on the camera, Turn by Turn Nav, Faster Processor, Slide out keyboard.

Eris only real plus I see is 7 panels as to 3 the Droid has but theres an app for that lol Sense UI looks really nice and the form factor feels a little better in your hand

I guess I'm not sure if the $100 difference is worth it. Im used to not having a keyboard so that wouldn't be an issue with the Eris. Not sure if no flash is a big deal. How much faster is the Droid to the Eris? And how do they compare to the Storm?

I havent had much time to stand at the store and play with the devices.

If my wife and I switched to Verizon, I want the Droid and my wife wants the Eris. We are waiting to see what happens with the Nexus One.

get the droid, take it back if you don't like it and go back to your old phone. Wait 3 or more days and get the eris. Then you won't get charged with the restocking fee either.

OK....but what then happens if I don't like the Eris? I guess everybody faces this issue when deciding on a new phone. But I'm leaning more towards the Droid.

I was having the same problem. I got the Droids and love it. The key board is not that bad once you get used to it, and if you don't like it just use one of the two touch key boards. The only complaint I have with it is the battery cover, but it's not that bad.

you pay the $35 and get another phone or go back to your old one. It's a loop hole in verizons system.

I came from the Storm to the Eris and I am delighted! I like the User Interface better, but most importantly, I hated the keyboard on the Motorola device. If it hadn't been for that, I might have picked it over the Eris.

The important thing to do is to go to your local Verizon store and spend a LOT of time playing with both devices. It's going to end up being what YOU prefer, what you like, what feels good in your hand.

if you need a physical keyboard ,droid is the obvious choice. And why are you leaving the BB bandwagon? Any special reasons? we would love to hear about it...

My wife has the Eris and she loves it and i really like it too. I also have a storm and the Eris is better at just about everything other that i guess email pushed to the phone but the eris is not far behind.

Here is my 2 cents. I did have the eris. I did love the device. My only issue with it wasn't that I didn't like it. But to me I felt it wasn't solid. I agree Eris is suppose to get an update to 2.0 or whatever in Jan. and I could've waited. I chose to switch to Moto Droid not for the physical keyboard but the solidness of the OS and more space I get for the price. You have to really balance what will be used for. Personally, the physical keyboard I won't use hardly since they have the touch key. In the end, every phone will have it's pros and cons and we are all here to help each other out. Good luck on your venture and I hope I helped out with your choices.
