Please help me think through the Verizon debacle

Hi everyone,

I have read with interest the posts here regarding the Nexus 7 LTE and Verizon, but I still have a question:

I am currently within my return period for my 32GB wifi 2013 Nexus 7. I love this tablet more than I thought I would, and would love the LTE version. My cell service is with Verizon, but I am aware of all of the issues around them activating a Nexus 7 right now.

So, my thinking is that if I went ahead and got the LTE version, I am essentially betting $80 that Verizon will eventually let me activate it on their network. Otherwise, I just basically overpaid for a wifi version.

I guess what I am asking is what do you think the odds are that there will be yet another LTE Nexus 7 that works on Verizon, which is different than the current LTE Nexus 7 that Google is selling? Otherwise, my $80 gamble on going ahead and getting an LTE version does not seem quite so risky.

I hope I am making sense. Thanks in advance for your help, and for a great site.

If you have a line that you're not using that is already provisioned with LTE, use that SIM.

Otherwise you won't have to wait forever. It will happen at some point.

Use PDANet, convert your Verizon cell phone into a WiFi hotspot as needed -- and forget buying the LTE Nexus 7 altogether.

That's what we did, times three Nexus 7s. Do the math, and you'll see that the savings are immense.

I'm only buying one because I have a line that I don't use and my lte SIM enables data just fine.

Everything I hear says it works on LTE from a technical standpoint already, so I doubt Google or Asus would redesign the device to compensate for bugs in Verizon's network. :D :D
