i got my phone and rooted it using this method: How To Unlock and Root The Verizon Galaxy Nexus (Easy Way)

I made sure to create a backup of my rom using clockwork

Now I was using the XDA softkey mod found here: [SOFTKEYS] Softkey Collection [GSM/LTE] [Update 13-01] - xda-developers and today I tried to change themes...instead my softkeys disappeared altogether. I rebooted and made sure busybox was installed then each time I had to reboot (since I had no soft keys)

I rebooted a few minutes ago into recovery but now recovery shows that I have no recovery installed and now im completly stuck....:'(

Update: leaving the phone alone for a few minutes let the recovery screen disappear. I reflashed Clockwork Recovery so hopefully that will fix this issue. I cannot however find my former backup

ok two questions arrize from this...which one do I flash (of the two cdma ones) and secondly I just noticed my status bar notification window has disappeared as well. ....oh good god android why do you hate me?!

The two you speak of, you just mean 4.0.1 and 4.0.2, right? I'd just grab the latest (which is probably what you had before unlocking/rooting).

ok heres my issue now... I thought it was fixed but im still getting an android lying on its back with an ! point above its stomach so it wont let me flash that .zip

I think i saw something similar when doing my root, I just powered down the phone and left it off a min.

I tried a few different ways to power down (holding down the button, pressing it a few times). I don't remember which way worked but when it came back up I was able to get into console.

i did also read this thread...however 4$ is a little bit more then I can afford right now.

And renaming it in oi file explorer doesnt work.

I can fix your problem remotely... if you don't mind me logging into your computer to fix it. I would reload the factory image from fastboot. PM me if you want.... no charge of course.

Absolutely. I wouldn't want someone I don't know touching my computer.

I have some Youtube videos that may help you. I record my videos on a mac for screen capture capabilities, but you could use any computer to flash through fastboot... but you have to have OS specific fastboot file. For windows, its called fastboot.exe (but you don't run it like a typical executable).

What you will need is:
1) Android SDK (OK, not all of it, you technically just need adb, but its not a bad thing to have). You can download the entire SDK here. You then need to run the SDK manager and download the platform-tools from the manager

2) Original Google Images for the Toro (Verizon GNex). You can download them from this post

3) You'll need fastboot. Depending on your operating system depends on the file. You can google it or obtain it from Here... hint... adb is in there as well.

Lastly)

and this video

Will come in handy... more of how to do stuff instead of following them step by step.
