I am just curious.

When I plug the phone into the computer and access my files...first of all, while I realize that it couldnt be done because there is no sd card, I am SO SO happy for not having to remember or go find which drive (n or m in my case) is the phone and which is the sd card, like Samsung did with the Galaxy S2

But the main point. When I plug it in, all is fine. Pops up to access its files

then when I am finished and goto click on the green eject button on Win 7, it is not listed. I simply unplug it and have had no problems

Is that right..I am assuming it should have to do with something I read, but don't understand because you still use the USB port, but it says the Nexus does not support usb

So is that why it is not listed? Ok to just unplug?

Thx

I just unplug (Win7 64 bit computer here). I've done it with this phone, and others, along with countless USB drives. Never had a problem. On my old tower (WinXP) I'd have to use the "eject" from the menu or risk corrupting the drive, but I've never had a problem on Win7.

Just be sure the data transfer is 100% complete before yanking the cord and you should be fine.

Of course if I'm wrong, I sure hope somebody corrects me!!!

Yes, absolutely. The reason why you can't "eject" it is because the phone is never actually "mounted".

The Galaxy Nexus doesn't use UMS (USB Mass Storage) like a SDcard, Flash Drive, or partitioned internal storage... it uses MTP (Media Transfer Protocol). Its similar to what digital cameras (can) use when you plug them in.

The reason for this is the Galaxy Nexus has 1 partition for storage. If you were to try and mount it for UMS, the phone would stop working. The benefits of using MTP are numerous, including the ability to use/access the files on the phone while also accessing them on the computer, not having to mount/unmount, and having 1 complete partition for the entire device.
