In my mid 60's, I may not be a typical Android Central podcast listener. I listen in my garden while tending to the plants. I have a Nexus 6P 128GB purchased used and a Nexus 5X purchased new as a spare. I use Mint Sim as my carrier and am completely satisfied with their service. My wife and I both have iPad tablets as I was dissatisfied with the Samsung Android tablets that I tried. The iPad is snappier and just works better, IMHO.
I really don't care what a smartphone looks like - metal or plastic or whatever. When I buy one, I buy a Otterbox Defender case and I never see the phone again, unless I need to change the sim or do a repair (I recently changed my Nexus 6P battery - I didn't like the $180 a local shop quoted). I like to buy a 1 year old used flagship Android smartphone and then keep it for a year or two. (bought the 5X new because Project FI had such a good deal at the time but it turned out that the performance of the 5X is not satisfactory).
