Poll: Did a factory reset help alleviate the problems in Froyo 2.2?

If you've had problems with Froyo since the upgrade, did a factory reset help?

Many of those of us having problems with with Froyo are thinking about doing a factory reset. The only thing stopping most of us is having to reconfigure the phone.

I thought it would be helpful for those of us who haven't done a factory reset to see if it is helping alleviate the problems many of us are having. This poll is only for those who had problems with Froyo and did a factory reset.

You should have added.. No issue so a factory reset was not needed. That is my vote.

Yeah, this is specifically aimed at those who had problems and if the hard reset fixed it. I think there is room for a broader poll asking what percentage of people are even having problems. As we know, happy users don't post nearly as often as those who have issues that need fixing.

I'm going to leave this one as it is.

Based on the small number of results so far, it seems pretty obvious that most of us should give the hard reset a shot before pulling our hair out anymore.

hard reset can be a PITA< but if you tried everything else possible already and something doesnt make sense, then do a hard reset and see. Better then not knowing.
I dont have 150 apps installed and keep the ones installed backed up in astro, so its somewhat painless. Just takes a good 15-20 min to reconfig the screens the way I like.

doesnt the EVO automatically re-download and install all your apps when you hard reset? that's a feature now in android and anytime i flash a new ROM, the first 5 minutes the phone automatically re-installs all my apps since its tied to my google account. free and paid apps.

No. At least it didn't in 2.1. You have to log back into the market and re-download/install all your apps. At least you don't have to re-pay for paid apps!

Research and use AppBrain. It will make your post factory reset much easier.

Apps with significant amounts of settings usually have an export feature.

If you use Google, your contacts, calendar, and email will sync automatically after you sign in. It also syncs.

If you read the issues thread, there are several examples in post #1 of people who had issues that were resolved after a hard reset. This poll is great though, as it reinforced the point.

It actually helped me a great deal doing a factory reset, I was having horrible lag time on messaging and other aspects of the phone and the battery was draining really quickly, but after a factory reset, everything is good to go =)

Just do not update Facebook to it's newest update. Or that will drain your battery and take tons of memory.

It's interesting. This morning all 8 respondents to the poll chose option 1, which I thought meant that you're suggestion on doing a hard reset was the best thing for most of us with problems to try. However, now over a quarter of the respondents are saying that the hard reset basically did nothing to help out. I'm not sure what that means since this is a small sample.

I'm still going to give it a try this weekend.
