I not. But, I am very disappointed with the $30 hotspot fee. They could give us a package that would offer limited bandwidth for the hotspot. $30 for the casual user is way too high.

It would be nice if they would at least waive the $10 Premium Data charge for those paying the additional $30 for the hotspot service.

The $10 won't be mandatory if you are in a 3G only area, but if you have 4G... I think that's stupid to charge the extra $10.

If they didn't charge and extra 10 dollar, the people in 3g only area will feel they are missing out big time, this atleast balances it out for them.

For openers I'm kind of biased b/c St. Louis will have 4g this summer...Having said that, I'm not bent out of shape about the $10. Also, I don't really think we will be paying for the 4g as much as we'll be paying for the larger data usage that will be incurred by the evo. Uploading pics from an 8 megapixel camer; video calls, youtube hq to name just a few the phone will use a ton of data. not to mention steaminng hq video such as movies. Its still cheaper than any other plan on any network and lets face it there is not other 4g option. (sorry t-mobile folks but seriously..) i'm gonna enjoy the hell out of using a s***load of data. and my understanding is there will be no cap. i'm gonna get the hotspot add-on as well so all my iphone friends will have something fast to connect to!!!!! oh did i mention multi-person gaming...lots of data...

I hope it's the entire St Louis region (I'd take all the way to Effingham and Flora please):p not just inside the 270 loop, although it will be nice when I come into downtown for Cardinals games...

I think having 3G unlimited, totally unlimited is worth the $10, but when I first seen the charge I thought what the **** is this. no cap for sure on 4G and I BELIEVE if this is correct then the 3G will be no-cap too,

about the $10...this is from c-net: "Interestingly, the issue of data plans was never mentioned during the presentation and became a source of confusion during the event. However, we have confirmed with Sprint and HTC representatives that the Evo 4G will require an Everything Data Plan, which starts at $69.99 per month, and a $10 "Premium Data Add-on" for WiMax, regardless of whether you live in a 4G coverage area. The thought is that with the add-on, you'll be able to take advantage of 4G speeds if you happen to travel to a supported market." i think there is also an official thread in the forum for this issue...i still won't mind paying it..

I don't mind it, as long as there is no cap, I'm good, I actually plan on using it as much as I can to get the most out of the 10 dollars.

This fee has definitely killed the interest I had in this phone. I had been waivering on the iphone or some other android phone, and this extra data fee for basically no extra service is probably going to push me to another carrier plain and simple. Good going Sprint, your going to continue to shed customers like no tomorrow!

First, I can imagine quite a bit.

Second, these "previously unimagineable" capabilities [YouTube HD, video chat, etc.] are only if you are on WiMax, so for us EV-DO Rev. A. customers they are not happening, but I have to pay for the "enhanced user experience"?

It's not about the $10 bucks, its about the device-specific premium that IMHO sets a bad precedent for us customers. It is possible that every new device could have a premium attached to it because it is a better phone than its predecessor.

Ya I have to say this is the first time I'm actually considering jumping over to the iphone cause at this point its not much more expensive.

Hell yes. Not only am I in a non-4G area but even with that, Sprint/Hesse lied and had originally said it wouldn't cost extra. And aside from that, one of Sprint's big selling points is that they're cheaper. Keep adding costs like this, and they're no better than verizon (in non-4g areas). And soon, Verizon will have LTE in my area (they've already put in the towers and have been testing it).

The other thing that sucks? First they sold us on the fact that the same phone could not work on multiple networks (I'm not convinced this couldn't be done). Imagine if they'd told you that changing your home phone service (landline) from verizon to AT&T meant your phone would no longer work with it and you'd have to buy a new one. Why do we accept this from cell phone comapnies??

And now, they're telling us that you have to pay more per month to use a "cooler" phone even if you add ZERO extra strain on the network.

Poll:

Here's my poll. Who's turned off by people who don't know the difference between "who's" and "whose?" I am.

No offense, but if 10 dollars a month is deterring anyone from buying this phone, you shouldnt be buying it.

Having said that, if you dont live in a 4g network area YOU DONT HAVE TO ADD 4G.

Apparently you have not been following the OFFICIAL info from Sprint. The $10 fee applies EVEN IF YOU DON'T HAVE 4G!! Read Jason Taylor's blog for more info (he's Sprint's spokesperson).
