POP 3 email filter?

Coming from a BB. On my BB I could set filters (through bis) so I didn't get mail I didn't want pushed to my phone. For example, I receive notification when someone opens my emails. i need these on my pc, i don't need/want them pushed to my Eris. I also have some trade newsletters that I prefer not to get on my phone.

My question: Is there a way to set up filters so not all pop 3 mail is sent to the phone?

This is a very important question! Please send an answer someone! I too came from the blackberry world, and not having an android login for my subscriber Rogers is ludicrous. Are there any apps that can help here?

I have a similar situation. Coming from a BB. I had an email notification filter app that allowed me to configure emails from specific email address to play a custom ringtone. All others I could either select vibrate or no notification. I used this after hours to have my network hardware email status changes to which I got an audible alert. If I cant find a droid app to do this I will be going back to a BB.
