I know it's very weird. No matter what I do or attach from whatever gallery it fails.

Tapatalk has problems sometimes with PNG files (screenshots). You could try using the Android Central Forums app and see if it works. This is my favourite app for the forum.

Has your friend gone into settings, apps, chrome, and cleared the cache?
First, though, you might want to open the chrome browser and see if she has any tabs open that might have a spammy ad in it. Make sure all tabs in chrome are closed.
