Pop up notification banner changed after reset settings

Yesterday I had to reset settings.... before that my notification banner for android messages app was larger and had 3 options (reply, mark as read, etc)... after the reset, it's this little tiny bar with the persons name and the first word or two of the message. How on earth do I get it back to the large one??

When I reset my settings, did it take me backwards in my updates? Do I have to wait for updates to hit my phone that were on there before and now aren't?

I feel like it USED to be the little banner (if you can even call it that) and after an update it turned into the bigger one with options??

I have android 10. One I version 2.0. if that helps. I dont know what it was before....

You still get the popup window and not only the notification, right? Have you checked if Smart Reply is enabled in the Messages app settings?

Hi, in settings >notifications >suggestions actions and reply toggle on at the top there?

I do get a pop up but it's a tiny little thing now. It used to be across the whole top of the screen with options for replying or mark as read and a small drop down arrow to read the whole message

Yes it is on. I've tried everything. I'm trying to attach a pic. If it works you'll see the little round pix at the top. That's my daughter texting me now. THAT'S what I get now. When she texts it shows me a couple words and her name and then goes to that. I've never had that before

Since you said that you reset the settings, did you change your default SMS app back to Google Messages?

I turned smart popup back off. Stil doing the same thing

Ah, when you mentioned "Android Messages" in your first post I thought you were referring to the Google app, not Samsung's.

Also long press the message app >tap info> go to notifications >tap in app notifications >make sure preview new messages on

I actually just checked that and they're all on. I'm going to restart. Stay tuned.

Keep off

Let's try more things
Long press the message app tap info , scroll to storage clear data ,cache and force stop it , yest again don't skip any of the steps

I haven't seen the Notification type verified.
Go to Settings, Applications, Messages, Notifications, see pic.
